The Greening of Signatures
"Our Age of Anxiety is, in great part, the result of trying to do today's jobs with yesterday's tools."
-- Marshall McLuhan
The High Price of Travel
It is now obvious to all but the most stubborn of deniers that the speed and ease with which we move from point A to point B comes with a significant environmental cost. The transportation industry is one of the world's top contributors to air pollution, and the automobile is popularly regarded as the biggest culprit. But direct your gaze from traffic jams and from the smog that hangs over our highways and streets. Look upward and consider a jet crossing a blue sky. You may be surprised to learn that this is not a pretty picture.
Reality Check
The pollution caused by a 747 "Jumbo Jet" is comparable to lighting a gas station on fire and flying it overhead. If you try to imagine how many aircraft are in the world's skies at any given moment, it's easy to see why airplane emissions are among the biggest and the worst contributors to global warming. But there's more. A plane doesn't even have to take off to do damage. The chemicals used in mandatory aircraft de-icing include ethylene glycol and propylene glycol, both deadly substances - even in small quantities.
So the next time you hear the term "seat sale" you might ask what price the planet is paying for your "cheap" flight.
Truly Free Air Miles -- Via LongPen
The LongPen ™ is the world's first, real-time, real pen and ink, long-distance signing device. It is entirely immediate, entirely personal, and entirely green. The LongPen ™ eliminates the need for excessive and unnecessary travel for business or promotional and publicity-based industries. Publicity tours and book signings become suddenly free of their considerable transportation expenses - and, more importantly, free of their environmental costs. The signature of a business-person closing the deal, an autograph of a sports hero, or the signed copy of a much loved book can now be just that, and not a memento of unnecessary environmental damage.
Today's Tools
We are living in a period of unprecedented change. Recent advances in technology, particularly in the sphere of communications, have already had a greater impact on human life than the industrial revolution. But this is only the beginning. Now, our planet's very survival depends on how imaginatively we can utilize these technologies. New sources of energy, new methods of communicating, new ways to encounter one another without sacrificing the environment -- these are challenges that we cannot afford to ignore. The LongPen ™ is one of the many new, green ideas that will someday add up to a global solution to an environmental crisis. We are committed to the future. In fact, we've already signed on the dotted line.
Benefits of a Greener Business
ISO14001 certification can be achieved by calculating the tons of Carbon Dioxide that would have been produced by the fuel burn generated in employee commuting and presenting this as a metric to demonstrate environmental improvement.
Governments offer tax incentives to businesses increasing their telecommunication.

Charity Partners
The LongPen™ can capture the on-screen interaction between author and fan in a digital video format. For a small fee, fans can download the video file of their interaction with the author, which they can share with friends, family, and the world at-large through their own website, MySpace.com page, YouTube.com, or their cell phones, iPods, and other digital video devices.
That fee will be donated by us to our charity partners Bird Life international for their “ Save the Albatross” campaign and to PEN Canada.
BirdLife International is a network of organisations concerned with monitoring the diversity of the world’s birds, identifying key areas for the protection of threatened species, and implementing conservation programmes at government and grass-roots level. Over 100 countries are part of the BirdLife family, making it one of the best-represented and most effective agents for biodiversity conservation.
